Wither Skulls are one of the most valuable mob drops on DonutSMP. They're needed for spawning the Wither boss and crafting Nether Stars (for beacons). Steady demand at premium prices. Here's how to farm them.
Why Wither Skulls are valuable
- Wither boss — 3 skulls + 4 soul sand summons the Wither. Killing it drops a Nether Star.
- Nether Stars — crafting beacons (the best buff item in the game). Beacons are luxury items.
- /order demand — players need them for beacon-building, sell at premium.
Current Wither Skull price: ~150k-200k coins each on /order.
How they drop naturally
Wither Skeletons (Nether Fortress mobs) have a base 2.5% drop rate for Skulls. With Looting III on your sword, the rate goes up to 5.5%.
So farming naturally: every 20 Wither Skeletons killed = 1 skull. Slow.
The Wither Skeleton Spawner farm

Farm build
Standard spawner farm layout:
- Place spawner in dark 9×9 Nether room
- Trap mobs with water (use Nether-safe water, which is hard — usually need a special "magic" water setup or kill them with falling damage instead)
- Kill chamber 22 blocks below spawner
- Hopper collection
- AFK loading the chunk
Nether water tip: Place a soul sand block in the kill area — Wither Skeletons can be pushed by their AI without needing water.
Looting III is critical
Without Looting III, your Wither Skull yield is half. Get a Looting III sword:
- Trade with Librarian villagers for the enchanted book
- Combine on anvil with your Netherite sword
- OR buy a pre-enchanted Looting sword on /ah
Selling Wither Skulls
Best play: /order at 175k each, list stacks of 4-8 skulls.
- /sell pays ~100k each (lower than /order)
- /ah works for premium listings (200k+ each)
- Direct sale to beacon-crafters (sometimes 220k+ for bulk)
A daily yield of 20-30 skulls = 3.5-5M coins/day just from skulls. Stack with the spawner's other drops = 100M+/day from one Wither Skeleton spawner.
