Conduit Power is the single most valuable status effect for underwater bases on DonutSMP. Unlimited water breathing, night vision, Haste II underwater, and damage to hostile mobs.
What Conduit Power gives you
When activated inside its range, you get:
- Water Breathing (infinite)
- Night Vision (infinite, underwater)
- Haste II (when fully framed — break blocks at insane speed)
- Mob attacking (auto-damages hostile mobs within 8 blocks)
Crafting a Conduit
1 Heart of the Sea + 8 nautilus shells = 1 Conduit.
- Heart of the Sea: buried treasure chests (~50k coins, or trade-loop)
- Nautilus shells: drowned drops (~1-2k each, or wandering trader)
The activation frame — bare minimum
A Conduit alone does nothing. You need a frame of "activator blocks":
- Prismarine
- Prismarine Bricks
- Dark Prismarine
- Sea Lanterns
Minimum activation frame: 16 blocks arranged in 3 connected open rings around the Conduit.
The rings must be:
- 1 horizontal ring at conduit level (8 blocks, 5×5 with center removed)
- 2 vertical rings (one in each perpendicular plane, also 5×5)
16 blocks minimum to activate. Conduit will start glowing/animating.
Maximum power — 42-block frame
Bigger frame = bigger range. Max is 42 activator blocks (full diamond shape around the Conduit), giving a 96-block range of effects.

Where to build it
Underwater bases: drain inside, swim outside, hostile mobs auto-die. Perfect. Mining hub: put a Conduit + Beacon nearby for Haste II + Conduit Power = mining speed god mode. Guardian farm: the auto-damage feature can kill Guardians for you when you AFK (low XP but easy).
Materials cost for max frame
Max 42-block prismarine frame requires:
- Prismarine: 42 blocks
- = ~168 prismarine shards + crystals (each prismarine block = 4 shards)
From a Guardian farm: ~3 hours of AFK. From /order: ~30-50k coins for the materials.
Common mistakes
- ❌ Wrong frame shape (rings must intersect, not stack flat)
- ❌ Frame in air (conduit only activates with water inside the frame)
- ❌ Using wrong materials (only the 4 listed work; sea pickles don't)
- ❌ Building on a server with land bias (find a real underwater spot)

Does the Conduit work above water? No — only when surrounded by water.
Does it work outside its range? No. Build multiple Conduits for big bases.
Can hostile mobs spawn inside its range? Yes, but they take damage from the Conduit every few seconds. They die fast.
