DonutSMP Ender Pearl Farming — Setup, Yield, Best Methods

Ender Pearls are one of the most-used items on DonutSMP — for /tpa-replacement, escape mechanics, building, and crafting. Here's how to farm them efficiently.

Why farm Ender Pearls

• Travel — throw a pearl, teleport to where it lands. Faster than walking, essential for PvP escape.
• Crafting — Eyes of Ender for End travel, End Crystals, decorative items.
• Sell — pearls go for 200-400 coins each on /order. Steady demand.

Average DonutSMP player burns 100-500 pearls per week. You can never have too many.

Best farming methods

Method 1 — End Highway Enderman Farm (S-tier)

The End has the highest Enderman spawn rates in the game. Build a kill tower at Y=60 (above the central End island).

Yield: 600-1,000 pearls/hour AFK.

Build:

1. Travel to outer End islands or End Highway
2. Build a 1-block kill tower (Enderman teleports in, falls 22 blocks, kill chamber)
3. Hopper collection
4. AFK with sword in hand

Method 2 — Warden-Enderman trap (advanced)

Ancient Cities (Deep Dark biome) have natural Endermen. Trap them in a death pit with the Warden's roar triggering damage.

Yield: 200-400 pearls/hour.

Risk: Wardens are deadly. Only attempt if geared.

Method 3 — Cleric villager trades

Cleric villagers sell Ender Pearls for 5-7 emeralds each. If you have an emerald farm, this is the easiest pearl source.

Yield: ~100-200 pearls/hour (limited by villager trade refresh).

Method 4 — End City raids (passive)

While looting End Cities for Elytras, you also kill Endermen along the way. Net: 50-150 pearls per City raid.

End Highway Enderman Farm — build steps

This is the best DIY farm:

1. Reach the central End Island (kill the Ender Dragon first)
2. Travel outward via ender pearls or Elytra (1000+ blocks)
3. Build at Y=60 on an empty area
4. Construct kill tower:
   • 9×9 spawning platform at Y=60
   • Vertical drop chute below (22+ blocks)
   • Kill chamber at Y=38 with hopper underneath
   • Player platform 16 blocks away to load chunks
5. AFK with pumpkin head equipped (so Endermen don't aggro the spawn platform)

Best: list 1 stack of 64 on /order at 350 each. Sells out fast — buyers come for bulk.

Pearl ROI vs other farms

Enderman farms are lower-tier income. Build one only if you need pearls for personal use or you're stacking multiple farms.

When pearl farming makes sense

✅ You're entering The End anyway (Elytra hunting) ✅ You need lots of pearls for personal PvP / travel ✅ You can build the kill tower quickly and stack with other End farms

❌ As a pure income farm — Iron Golem spawner is 30x better per hour

Can Endermen pick up blocks from my farm? Yes — place slabs everywhere they can stand. Prevents block-pickup griefing.

Why do I need a pumpkin head? Looking at Enderman aggros them. Pumpkin head blocks the aggro trigger.

Can I farm Endermen in the Overworld? Spawn rates are way lower in Overworld. End is 10x more efficient.

Why don't pearls stack to 64? Vanilla Minecraft caps Ender Pearls at 16 per stack. Carry shulker boxes of pearls if you need bulk.
